Buprenorphine is a medication used for the treatment of opioid addiction, such as dependence to heroin or prescription pain medications. It is the active chemical in medications such as Suboxone and Zubsolv. Buprenorphine works by blocking the receptors in the brain to which opioid chemicals bind. This prevents the symptoms of opiate withdrawal.
Buprenorphine can be used for both the induction and maintenance treatment of opioid dependence.
Because buprenorphine containing medications are controlled substances, we ask that our patients abide by a treatment contract and regular urine toxicology testing to ensure safe prescribing.
The buprenorphine program is a self-pay service. Our fees are listed here. Your insurance plan may cover the medication itself depending on your benefits.
